Only Believe

The word “Salvation” comes from the Greek word “Soteria” which means “deliverance, preservation and safety”. It refers to deliverance from the bondage of sin (Galatians 5:1), enemies (Luke 1:71) and sickness and disease (Isaiah 53:4 AMP; Matthew 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24).

Salvation is a gift made available to those who repent, believe and confess their belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and that He died and rose from the dead to save mankind (Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-10). The gift of salvation cannot be earned through simply by doing good things or by being a “good person” (Ephesians 2:8-9). It is an act of faith and it is a process. There are some important steps you can take –

  • Recognize and admit that you are a sinner.  Don’t worry – you are not alone.
  • Repent of your sins.  Repentance does not mean just saying, “I’m Sorry”, but it is an act that declares your change of heart regarding your actions and your desire and willingness to turn away from sin.
  • Confess Jesus as Lord and Savior.  Confession is verbally declaring that Jesus Christ is the ultimate Authority over your life.
  • Be Baptized in Water and Receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.
  • Obey the Word of God.

Are you ready to take these steps? Then we would encourage you to pray this simple prayer:

Father, in the Name of Jesus, I come before You seeking salvation!  Your Word says, “Whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved”.  Lord, I am the “whosoever” and I am calling on You now!  Today, I am confessing with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in my heart that You raised Him from the dead and because I made this confession according to Your Word, I am reborn NOW!  I am a Christian – Your Child – and I am saved!

Father, You also said in Your Word that I ask for anything in the Name of Jesus and believe I receive it when I ask for it, I shall have it!  I am also asking today that You fill me with the Holy Spirit and that He rise within me as I begin to praise!  I fully expect to speak with other tongues as You give me the utterance, just as the saints did on the day of Pentecost.  I thank You for this new life and all that I have asked for, I ask for and receive in the Name of Jesus!  Amen!
